Please note any wall mounted fixing points in sports halls must have no protruding points which could cause head injury. When fitting bags or any other storage device care should be taken that the fixing is at least 2m and above head height. This may mean that a small set of steps could be sued to make the operation of putting away the cricket or divider nets away even easier.

Sports floors must be line marked to strict dimensions with line widths +/-2mm and overall dimensions within 0.1% of Sport England guidelines. Failure to comply could result in your venue being unable to host future tournaments, so you can’t afford to get it wrong! No matter what the primary use of your sports floor is, the line marking will be subject to heavy wear. For this reason we don’t recommend taped lines as it’s very easy for tape to pull loose.

In the long term, professionally painted lines and court markings will prove a more durable and reliable option at a lower cost. We use a two-part polyurethane paint which typically gives a 5-7 year life span between re-marking, compared with a typical 3-5 life span for water-based paint.

Changes To Regulation Court Markings

If you require revised court markings to meet changes in regulations, such as those for Basketball, we offer solutions ranging from localised cleaning and painting of the specific area that we will be applying the new lines, to a complete sand and re-seal (wood floors only) to restore your entire floor to its new condition with a complete set of new lines.

If we are revising the line marking we will be ‘painting out’ the old markings as necessary. We would work with you to choose a colour that closely matches your existing floor whatever the surface type. If it’s not invisible it will be a very good match.

Bespoke Court Painting

Alongside line marking, we offer bespoke court painting such as marking a border around the principal court, infilling the keys or centre circle on your court and hand painting a school or club logo onto your floor to completely transform and personalise your court.

Measuring the numerous courts is by far one of the most challenging aspects due to the specialist skill involved. Archery netting is manufactured from a high quality close fine mesh offered as supply only, bespoke made and installed by our own professional engineers.

The Archery netting is made of a close weave nylon weighing approximately 384 grams per m2.

All archery nets come complete with brass eyelets around perimeter at 300mm centres. The netting hangs loosely and when an arrow impacts,  the netting ‘gives’ and absorbs the energy of the arrow, slowing it down and stopping it. For the lighter poundage bows and club level bows using target archery arrows, the netting will stop the arrow nearly all of the time. A lot of clubs and organisations use this netting very successfully.

NOTE: This netting doesn’t always stop all arrows. In particular hunting arrows will cut the net. Also heavy pull bows and stronger compound bows will be more likely to cause arrows to leak through the netting.  As a safety measure if you don’t have a good area of clear ground behind the target and netting, a second layer of netting spaced back from the first is advisable.

 ARCHERY NET SAFETY GUIDELINES

• We strongly recommend not keeping your archery backstop netting taut as this will greatly increase the chances of your arrows penetrating the net.
• Keep the net as loose as possible and be left dragging along the floor where possible in order for it to completely absorb the energy of the arrow.
• For example, bunch the net like a half-drawn curtain; the more folds, the greater the stopping power. The weight of the net is what helps to slow the arrows.
• Field Points are recommended for use with these Backstop Nets.
• Please refrain from using Broadheads as these are most likely to pierce the net.
• For ‘Have a Go’ sessions, Backstop Netting is a strong requirement as stated in the GNAS Code of Practice (barring a safe over-shoot space – minimum 50 yards).
• Archery Backstop Netting is NOT guaranteed to stop all variety of arrows from Recurve, Compound, Traditional or Crossbows.
• Archery Backstop Netting’s primary purpose is to be utilised as an additional safety screen, whilst also speeding up arrow retrieve

Ceiling, roof and wall protection netting can be provided in 2 main mesh sizes, 50mm mesh and 22mm mesh. The sports that are being played need to be considered as for example, 50mm mesh will stop a cricket ball but a badminton shuttlecock will get “lodged” in the mesh and can be difficult to retrieve. Protection netting can be permanent or semi permanent. 4mm steel galvanised wires are installed to allow the netting to be secured over the entire area to be covered. We like to make the netting in sections to allow for periodic maintenance for heating or lighting etc.

Generally bowlers end protection nets (Sports hall bowler end netting) are positioned approximately 1m away from the end wall where the bowlers are starting the run up. The netting is as standard white 16z, 50mm mesh with a 3m high white canvas sight screen hung from lanyard cords, which supports the sight screen, prolonging the life of the nets. The bowlers end net should protect the end wall and show a white back drop for the facing batsman when they are in the cricket net bays. For a double cricket bay unit with 3m wide cricket bays the bowlers end net should extend to at least 9m so as to prevent cricket balls straying out and causing injury. For a typical sports hall set up where there is 2 x double bay cricket units the bowlers end net should cover the full width of the sports hall and typically at around 18m. A pressure-release ring should always be fixed to steelwork behind the backboard to prevent people hanging from the ring damaging the board. This price assumes that a steel frame is already in place behind your backboard. This enables the slam-dunk ring to be fixed directly to the steelwork so that undue loadings are not imposed on the backboard. Slam-dunk rings must not be attached directly to backboards.
